WHAT IS HALAL FOOD?
Halal food comprises all food, beverages and/or the ingredients that can be consumed by Muslim and permitted under the Shariah law and fatwa which fulfills the following conditions:
- Does not contain any part of an animal that is prohibited by the Shariah law and fatwa (dog and pig or its derivatives) or any animal that has not been slaughtered in accordance with the Shariah law and fatwa;
- Is not contaminated with najs (impurity);
- Does not intoxicate;
- Does not contain any parts of a human, which is prohibited by the Shariah law and fatwa;
- Is not poisonous or hazardous to health; and
- Is not prepared, processed or manufactured using equipment that have been contaminated with najs (impurity);
- Has not while preparing, processing or storing been in contact with mixed, or in close proximity to any food that fails to satisfy items (a) and (b)
Internal Controls
To ensure that all our products conform to Halal requirements, apart from obtaining the Halal Certificate for our operational premises, we operate stringent internal controls over raw materials procurement, handling, processing, packaging, storage, transportation, and utensils.
Halal Status
When selecting halal meat suppliers, we only consider those that hold a Halal certificate from JAKIM, or any Halal authorization bodies from overseas, which are recognized by JAKIM. Non-Halal items are prohibited from being brought into our premises. The cleanliness and sanitation of our restaurant, kitchen and equipment is our utmost imperative. At least two Muslim employees are stationed in the kitchen at all times.
POLICY STATEMENT
We are committed to produce and serve “HALALAN TOYYIBAN” products that strictly comply with statutory and regulatory requirements. The policy is to ensure the implementation of our internal Halal Assurance System (HAS), as well as the strategy to create, operate, and maintain a systematic halal control management system in the company.
VALIDATION PROCESS FOR IMPORTED PRODUCTS
Receive request to use products/ingredients that have been certified Halal by foreign Islamic body recognized by JAKIM in respective source country
Shariah Advisory Council verifies and validates the status of the Halal certifying body with JAKIM
Shariah Advisory Council grants permission to use proposed product/ingredients
RAW MATERIALS TO THE SLIM WEBSITE
All raw materials suppliers are required to submit a statutory declaration to confirm that they comply with Halal requirements in relation to the manufacturing process, handling, storage and transportation of products supplied.
